Carla, our co-owner, has held the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation from the National Association of Home Builders since the mid-2000s. She is also a CAPS trainer, and she has trained our team.
So we plan around the person, not the product: how they move through the house, what they reach for, and what they want to keep doing on their own.

Sturdy handrails on both sides, bright lighting with switches at the top and bottom, and a level, slip-resistant path to the door.
Grab bars by the toilet and in the shower, a hand-held shower head and seat, non-slip flooring, and anti-scald protection on the taps.
Clear walkways, rugs removed or secured, cords out of the way, and a light and a phone or medical alert within reach of the bed.
Everyday items between hip and shoulder height, lever handles, and good task lighting over the counter.
