A permit is required for any new plumbing installation or significant alteration — new drain or supply lines, moving existing drain locations, adding a bathroom. Fixture replacement (toilet, sink, faucet) in the same location on existing supply and drain connections typically does not require a permit. We identify what requires permitting at the consultation and pull all required permits — the cost is included in the quote.

The plumbing scope includes: removing the existing tub drain and supply connection, rough-in of a new drain at the correct shower location and depth, installation of a shower valve (thermostatic or pressure-balance) with trim, and connection to existing supply lines (with upgrading of shutoffs as needed). The tile and waterproofing work is typically done by a tile contractor in coordination with our rough-in schedule. We can recommend tiling contractors we've worked with if needed.

For a full renovation, 2–4 weeks lead time allows us to schedule around your contractor's timeline. Rough-in work (before tile) is scheduled first; final connections (after tile) come later.
