The thermostat
Set to cool, and set below the current room temperature.
The filter
A clogged filter chokes airflow and can stop the system cooling at all. Replace it if it is grey.
The breaker
Check it has not tripped. Reset it once; if it trips again, stop and call.
Ice on the coils
If you can see ice, turn the system off and call. Running it iced up makes the repair bigger.
Also clear leaves, grass and anything stacked against the outdoor unit. It needs air around it to reject heat.
