The Problem

Leaky Ducts Are the Most Expensive Invisible Problem in Your Home

Just like a leaking garden hose, your home's leaking ductwork fails to deliver conditioned air where it's supposed to go — it escapes inside walls, attics, and between floor joists. The metal joints in your ductwork are not airtight: unless sealed, up to 40% of the air that leaves your furnace leaks out on the way to its destination.

Every unsealed joint leaks, even if you can't see it or feel its gentle breeze — an infrared scan confirms it in bright red. The result: dusty rooms, allergy flare-ups, hot and cold spots, and utility bills far higher than they should be.

  • Is your home dusty or causes allergies and air quality issues?
  • Higher-than-expected utility bills?
  • Cold or hot rooms and spaces in your house?
  • HVAC running constantly without ever catching up?

Did You Know?

Two Facts Most Calgary Homeowners Never Hear

67%, not 95%

If you buy a 95% high-efficiency furnace but leave your ducts unsealed, your actual heating and cooling system efficiency drops to about 67%. Duct sealing is how you get the efficiency you already paid for.

It's the building code

Alberta Building Code 9-206 Division B, Sentence 9.32.3.11, states that all ductwork joints must be sealed with mastic, metal foil duct tape, or manufacturer's specified sealants. This is effective for new constructions starting 2006. Older houses with old ducting system are highly likely to have more leaky ducts.

A Real Calgary Story

Only After Sealing Her Ducts Could Carla Finally Sleep

Only after sealing her home's ducts was Carla able to get a cool night's sleep. Prior to that, the air conditioner ran the whole night and never provided the cooling she desired. In the meantime, her family suffered cold elsewhere.

Why Seal Your Ducts

Sealed ductwork delivers the conditioned air to where you desire, the first time, to the grills that were purposefully designed for your heating and cooling objectives. No need for your equipment working longer to satisfy your needs.

Energy & Money Saving

Duct sealing is the answer to your high utility bills, returning to you the 20-30% energy loss that homes typically suffer from leaking ducts.

Quick & Easy

Done within a few short hours. Results can be seen and felt almost instantly.

Protects Your HVAC System

Most of the time you depend on your system based on how you maintain it. How well do you take care of your duct work? Improve performance, efficiency and life span of your system. Sealed and thus higher efficiency system allows your furnace and air conditioner to work less, therefore extending its life.

Environmentally Friendly

Reduce your family's carbon footprint by 10% without changing your habits. Saving energy is not only saving money, it's also reducing carbon footprint and therefore preserving our earth for our future generation.

How Aeroseal Works

Inside-Out Sealing — No Walls Opened

Pre-Seal Leakage Measurement

Need to locate all supply and return vents and seal all of them to make sure no air will pass through it. A blower attached to the computer system will pressurize the duct system and identify the lost energy or leakage in cubic feet per minute to assess the leaking problem.

Aeroseal Injection

To seal the leaks off, a fan, nozzle will be hooked up to inject Aeroseal to the ducts through a flexible transparent hose. The airborne sealant particles travel to the pressurized ductwork and will start to close the gaps and holes from inside and out.

Post-Seal Verification

We repeat the leakage measurement and the Aeroseal system produces a computer-generated certificate showing before and after CFM readings — documented proof of exactly how much leakage was sealed.

FAQ

Duct Sealing Questions

How is Aeroseal different from traditional duct sealing?

Traditional duct sealing means mastic compound or foil tape applied manually to joints — but only the joints you can access. Aeroseal seals from the inside, which means every gap and hole throughout the entire duct system gets sealed simultaneously — including ones in wall cavities that no technician could reach without demolition.

Is Aeroseal safe?

Yes. Aeroseal has been used in over 100,000 buildings across North America. The sealant is the same base material used in hair spray and water-based paint. It's non-toxic, UL-listed, and safe for occupied homes. We provide a certificate from the Aeroseal system showing exactly what was done.

How much does duct sealing save on energy bills?

Homes with average duct leakage (30–50% air loss) typically see 20–30% reductions in heating and cooling costs after Aeroseal. The exact savings depend on your home's leakage baseline, the heating fuel type, and how much you run your HVAC. Our pre-seal measurement gives you a projection specific to your system.

Do I need to clean my ducts before sealing them?

If your ducts haven't been cleaned in several years, we typically recommend cleaning first — debris can interfere with Aeroseal particle travel in heavily contaminated systems. We'll advise based on your system's condition at the consultation. In many cases, the ducts are clean enough to seal directly. Learn more about our Calgary duct cleaning service.
