Bathroom Upgrades That Last — Safety, Comfort, and Modern Plumbing
From a single fixture replacement to a full bathroom renovation, Alberta Indoor Comfort handles the plumbing side of your bathroom upgrade — properly permitted, properly piped, and ready for the next 25 years.
Plumbing-Side Bathroom Work — Done Right
Bathroom renovations are one of the most common sources of hidden plumbing problems — work done without permits, improper drain slopes, undersized supply lines, and shower valves installed without anti-scald protection. We permit every job that requires it and install to code — protecting you at resale and on insurance claims.
Handy Tips When Remodeling Your Bathroom
Your bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house, and it takes a lot of wear and tear. A great-looking, updated bathroom doesn't have to be out of reach — a few smart choices go a long way without sacrificing looks or functionality.
Be Wise When Choosing a Floor
When choosing a material for your floor, get something that's easy to clean and won't trap germs, such as tile or porcelain.
Get a Toilet Fit for a King
Replacing an old toilet with a new, high-efficiency one won't just help the environment — it can also save you money on your water bill.
Replace the Sink
Even if you do nothing else, replacing your old sink with a new one with upgraded features can give your bathroom a whole new look.
How to Save Money on Bathroom Renovations
A bathroom remodel doesn't have to drain the family budget. A few smart moves keep your renovation looking great while leaving cash left over.
Reuse Your Existing Plumbing
Try using your existing plumbing layout where possible to save money on a renovation.
Use Tile Sparingly
Tile is expensive, so use it sparingly or find alternatives where you can.
Invest in Quality Fixtures
Don't get cheap fixtures — they won't last, and you'll end up spending more money to replace them later.
Consider Frameless Shower Doors
If your bathroom is limited on space, try frameless shower doors for a luxury look without the footprint.
What to Look for in a Bathtub Replacement
There are hundreds of great tubs to choose from. If you're wondering which one is best for you, here are a few things to consider.
Consider a Soaking Tub
A soaking tub is deeper than a standard tub and may be more relaxing and more comfortable.
Get the Right Fit
Make sure you get a tub you don't have to squeeze into.
Budget-Friendly Materials
If you're on a budget, materials such as acrylic or fiberglass are good-looking and inexpensive options.

Bathroom Plumbing Services
Walk-In Shower Conversion
Converting a tub to a walk-in shower requires new drain location, waterproofing specification, and properly sized supply lines for a thermostatic shower valve. We handle the full plumbing scope — drain, valve, body spray, and handheld connections.
Aging-in-Place Upgrades
Comfort-height toilets, grab bar blocking installation (backing in walls for grab bars), handheld shower conversions, and roll-in shower configurations. Proper blocking during renovation avoids future wall tear-outs when grab bars are needed.
Fixture Replacement
Toilet, sink, tub, and shower fixture replacements — including upgrading supply lines, angle stops, and shut-offs that are original to the home. Many Calgary homes have 30+ year old valves that fail at the worst time during renovations.
Steam Shower Installation
Steam shower systems require a dedicated steam generator, waterproof enclosure, and specific electrical and plumbing connections. We supply and install Kohler steam systems, handling the plumbing and generator installation.
Ensuite Addition
Adding a new bathroom to an existing space requires running new supply and drain lines from the home's main stack. We plan the routing, pull the permit, and install everything from the rough-in through fixture connection.
Anti-Scald Protection
Calgary's municipal water temperature can exceed scalding thresholds. Pressure-balancing valves and thermostatic shower systems prevent scalding — required by Alberta Building Code in new installations. We retrofit anti-scald protection in bathrooms where it's absent.
Permit-Ready, Inspection-Ready — Every Time
All applicable bathroom plumbing work is pulled with the proper City of Calgary permit and passes inspection before we close walls. Protects your home value and insurance coverage.
Bathroom Renovation Questions
Do I need a permit for bathroom plumbing work in Calgary?
A permit is required for any new plumbing installation or significant alteration — new drain or supply lines, moving existing drain locations, adding a bathroom. Fixture replacement (toilet, sink, faucet) in the same location on existing supply and drain connections typically does not require a permit. We identify what requires permitting at the consultation and pull all required permits — the cost is included in the quote.
What's involved in converting a tub to a walk-in shower?
The plumbing scope includes: removing the existing tub drain and supply connection, rough-in of a new drain at the correct shower location and depth, installation of a shower valve (thermostatic or pressure-balance) with trim, and connection to existing supply lines (with upgrading of shutoffs as needed). The tile and waterproofing work is typically done by a tile contractor in coordination with our rough-in schedule. We can recommend tiling contractors we've worked with if needed.
How far in advance should I book bathroom renovation plumbing work?
For a full renovation, 2–4 weeks lead time allows us to schedule around your contractor's timeline. Rough-in work (before tile) is scheduled first; final connections (after tile) come later. We can coordinate directly with your general contractor or tile installer. Call early — bathroom renovation schedules during Calgary's spring and fall peak seasons fill quickly.
