We use a combination of acoustic leak detection (listening for water movement through pipe walls), moisture meters (detecting elevated moisture content in building materials), and pressure testing (isolating sections of piping to locate pressure loss). Thermal imaging is used when moisture gradients are present. These methods let us narrow the leak to a specific area before any drywall is opened — typically limiting the access hole to one or two locations.

If the affected pipe is copper and the home has had one slab leak, the rest of the copper run is at similar risk — especially in Calgary's hard water environment. A single repair is appropriate for an isolated incident. Two or more leaks from the same pipe run, or confirmed pinhole corrosion in multiple locations, typically justifies repiping (rerouting above-slab or through walls) rather than continuing to chase individual failures.

Coverage depends on your policy and the nature of the leak. Sudden, accidental water damage (e.g. a burst pipe) is generally covered. Gradual leaks resulting from deferred maintenance often are not.
