If you came here looking for Energy Efficiency Alberta’s Home Improvement Rebate, that program is gone. The agency closed in 2020, and its rebates ended before that. Program rules change often, so this page lists what we could confirm on official government pages, plus what has closed.

Calgary Home Water Savings Rebate
The City of Calgary offers up to $150 toward one WaterSense toilet, bathroom faucet or showerhead bought and installed on or after August 4, 2026. It covers the fixture cost, not labour or installation, and you need an ENMAX water account. Green Calgary runs it for the City. It ends December 1, 2026, or sooner if the funds run out. If our plumber supplies the fixture, your invoice lists it on its own line, with the model and price, so you can apply.
Help for homeowners 65 and older
If you or your spouse is 65 or older, Alberta’s Seniors Home Adaptation and Repair Program (SHARP) may help. It’s a low-interest home equity loan from the Government of Alberta, from $500 to $40,000, with no monthly payments. You repay it when you sell or move out. The province lists furnace and hot water tank upgrades as examples, and it decides who qualifies.
Planning accessibility work like handrails? The federal Home Accessibility Tax Credit may apply. Confirm with your accountant.
Coming early 2027 (not open yet)
- National Heat Pump Rebate (federal): A federal heat pump rebate is coming early 2027. Announced Oct 8, 2026. Opens early 2027. Not open yet. Up to $10,000 for below-median-income households; $2,000 for others, per the federal announcement. It is expected to stack with provincial programs. Check the official program page for eligibility dates. Still not open yet. There is no application link until the government portal is live. Federal officials have said that where natural gas is cheap, as in Alberta, switching from gas to a heat pump may not save money. We do not promise bill savings; the case for a heat pump here is comfort, lower emissions, and readiness. Alberta Indoor Comfort does not decide who qualifies.
Closed or paused
- Calgary Residential CEIP: financing of up to $50,000, repaid on your property tax bill over up to 20 years. You repay all of it, so it isn’t a rebate. Intake is closed until winter 2026/2027, and work can’t start before approval. Alberta Indoor Comfort is a CEIP Qualified Contractor, so we can help you get ready before it reopens.
- Canada Greener Homes Grant: closed.
- Canada Greener Homes Loan: closed to new applications in October 2025.
- Energy Efficiency Alberta rebates: ended. The agency closed in 2020.
